David Haye vs Arnold Gjergjaj & Shannon Briggs vs Emilio Zarate
BY KID HERSH
From the O2 Arena in London came David Haye (27-2, 25ko's) vs Arnold Gjergjaj (29-0, 21ko's): It did not look good from the start as the first right hand that landed shook Gjergjaj's knees badly. Immediately I thought that this unknown fighter is not in fact a secret, well hidden talent and instead the opposite of that where his record was bloated to get where he is. We then saw one of the worst mismatches for a main event in a seriously long time. He was knocked down multiple times - including once from a light jab - as he clearly had no idea what he was doing and even wanted a way out of there as he froze like a deer in the headlights. It was mercifully over in the second round but a terrible display of a mismatched fight with the great white hope padded record.
Before the David Haye fight was Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs (59-6-1, 52ko's) vs Emilio Ezequiel Zarate (20-16-3, 11ko's). This fight lasted even less than the main event would, with Briggs landed a brutal body shot that led to the first round knockout. Another KO1 for Briggs, who we haven't seen go any amount of rounds in recent memory but yet is still a fun and entertaining personality in boxing in a World Wrestling sort of way.
