ESPN+ Terence Crawford vs Jeff Horn and Jose Pedraza vs Antonio Moran
By Kid Hersh
From the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, came Top Rank on ESPN+ boxing.
First up on the card was Jose Pedraza (23-1, 12KO's) vs Antonio Moran (23-2, 16KO's). The first round was pretty action-packed as Moran was trying to break through the defense of "The Sniper", who was covering up well and showing lots of head movement. At the end of the first round, both men were trading their best punches with neither willing to back down from the other. In the second round, Pedraza was able to take control of the fight ever so slightly, as he pushed Moran backwards for the first time in the fight after opening a cut on his nose. Moran was fighting back viciously in spots but Pedraza had the straighter, cleaner blows, as his hands were simply too fast for Moran to see. In the fourth round, Pedraza was standing his ground and coming forward as he was landing good shots on Moran - who he appeared to be breaking down. The problem was that while he was landing extremely good punches on Moran, Moran was still fighting back and seemed to be the type of guy that perhaps gets stronger when he is in trouble.
Main event time for the fight that everyone has been waiting for featuring Jeff Horn (18-0-1, 12KO's) vs Terence Crawford (32-0, 23KO's). In the first round, Crawford was being the matador to the bull but Horn was having his moments - also somewhat rare - he was pressing hard and creating opportunities. The second round was more of the same, and then in the third round, Crawford was really starting to take over and inflict heavy punishment on Horn. Crawford was standing in the center of the ring and slamming home every punch in the book while simply turning in circles over and over. Crawford continued in the coming rounds to push Horn around the ring and it looked in the fifth round like he was breaking Horn down as Horns body language did not look good at all.
